Hargreaves, tied l'or second place in the han- : dicap teams match. The locals registered a good performance as five of the team arc only first year shots. Racing Club Once again the Anniversary Day meeting of the Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing !Club has been a marked success. Much Credit is due the officials who each year keep the meeting up to its high standard and so hold the patronage of the racing public. The morning of the meeting broke dull with misty rain, but a high wind sprang up and it was not long before the sun was shining. With the exception of a few lost hats, everyone voted the day a success and the weather conditions very General Tho weather for 1937 still continues to :be very unsettled with winds of from moderate to gale force, and a great perI centage of rain predominates. The result has been floods in the rivers and creeks i to say nothing of the farmers who have . had their hay crops flattened by the wind ! or, if cut, soaked with rain before it has i eventually been stacked. Several farmers locally had hay cut just prior to the heavy • easterly gale of a week ago, much of the crops being blown off the paddocks and stacked against the fences.
