Rongotea

From Our './wn Correspondent Rongotea Horticultural Society. At a meeting of the Rongotea Horticultural Society held on Saturday evening, at which there was a large attendance, arrangements were finalised for the holding of the autumn show on Tuesday, March 16. This date, it is hoped, will enable exhibitors of both flowers and farm crops tu make large entries in the various sections. A novel feature of this show will be a special section for members of Young Farmers' Clubs which, it is thought, will prove of great interest to the community generally. The unseasonable weather continues. Many farmers are beginning to despair of ever getting their hay harvested, and farm crops generally seem to be very backward for this time of the year. The winds are proving most destructive to the fruit crops in the district, trees being entireely stripped of half-grown fruit. On Wednesday a strong gusty wind was responsible for the breaking of a number of windows in Rongotea. Mr W. A. Churchill, headmaster of the Rongotea school, with Mrs Churchill and their children, having visited Bulls where they spent a few days, are now visiting relatives at Opunake, where they intend remaining until school re-opens. Mr and Mrs A. Trenkricr have returned to Rongotea.
