The Half Holiday Argument

(To the Editor). Sir, —May I, through your column, express my admiration of the courageous attitude adopted by our Mayor and certain of our councillors in voting for Saturday half-holiday. They have since been subjected to much abuse, particularly by one of their fellow-councillors, but abuse of such a nature as to be unworthy of reference (de mortius nil nisi bonum). I think they have acted according to the true spirit of British justice—the greatest good for the greatest number. —Yours, etc., “OBSERVER.”
