Try a Good Honest Wash for Your Rug
Keep your rugs looking bright, for it makes a lot of difference to the effect of your room. Turn the rug over and vacuum clean the back of it regularly. Now and again take it into the garden ? lay it fac© downward on the grass and beat it with a supple cane. When the colour of the rug begins to lose its freshness, wipe it over, on the right side, with a wet duster which has been wrung out in water and a little methylated spirits, or diluted ammonia may be used instead. Either will remove surface dust and bring up the colour wonderfully.
When you feel that you simply must give j'our rug a good, honest wash, follow the usual rules for washing woollens. That is, immerse in warm soapy water, adding a little vinegar to the colours, dip and squeeze, rinse several times in water of much the same temperature, and then lay the rrug out to dry in the fresh air.
