Women’s Cricket Match To be Played at Levin
The Palmerston North Kowhai Cricket Club will play a match with a Woolworth team from Wellington at Levin on Saturday. Tho Palmerston North team is as follows: —Captain, Miss Judy Christian; acting vice-cap-tain, Aliss Beatrice Hickinj also Misses Sheila Heath, lanthe Christian, Alarjorie Kerr, Alargaret Farmer, Aileen Gardner, Peggy O’Neill, Aloira Benfell, Louis AlcKenzie and Lorna Dalton. Aliss June AlcKenzie is an emergency. The Wellington team is captained by Aliss lone Christian. Tho umpires will be Air N. Gallichan (Palmerston North) and Air J. Foster (Wellington).
This is the third season of the Kowhai Club, and as there are no other women cricket teams in Palmerston North there is a lack of competition. Members of the Kowliai Club, however, have played among themselves at Milverton Park endeavouring to improve their game. They look forward to the time when cricket will be regarded with more enthusiasm by the young women of Palmerston North as a congenial sport well worth taking up.
