United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Co pyrlgh t. Received Tuesday, 7.30 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 18.
The Daily Telegraph’s naval correspondent states that the huge Seletar naval dock at Singapore capable of taking 50,000-ton SiVps will be ready in duly. Ten million pounds will be expended by 1939 when the entire base will be completed, making Seletar the best de~ i ended and best equipped naval base east of Suez. Singapore may eventually become the headquarters of the new Pacific fleet including ships provided by the Dominions
. Neither Britain nor the Dominions can be satisfied with existing state of the Commonwealth's Pacific defences. Pour or five new battleships of the most powerful type will be ready for service in 1940, releasing the same number of older ships whose presence at Singapore would be welcomed by the Dominions.
