GALLOWAY DOES WELL IN PRO. GOLF CHAMPS.

(Per Press Association.) TIMAEU, Last Night. The New Zealand Professional Golf tournament was continued to-day in fine but dull weather, ideal from a players’ point of view. There was a little wind but not sufficient to interfere with the play. The attendance of onlookers was good. Great interest was manifested in the play. The day was devoted to the first two rounds of the South Canterbury Championships in conjunction with which the Myers Challenge Cup was competed for. The Second Stroke Handicap also was decided. The course was in the same good condition as on the opening day, though one or two greens were tricky. Play reached a higher standard than the previous day and onlookers particularly in the afternoon, witnessed spectacular and highly interesting golf. A. C. Butters throughout the day played nearer his true form, his afternoon round of 70 being a brilliant effort. J. A. Clements also gave an outstanding display, his card out in the morning over 9 holes being 31. His iron work was weak on the homeward journey for which he took 43. He registered the same aggregate score in the afternoon round. J. E.
