There were lively scenes in the course of a debate in the House of Commons initiated by Miss Susan Lawrence (Labour) dealing with the Governmeat's action to check over generous poor law relief The Labourite, Mr. T. E. Groves, read a letter threatening an ex-soldier with legal proceedings in order to/ recover 12/-. “Did you write the letter?” asked a Conservative back bencher. “You dirty dog,” shouted Mr. Jack Jones, while Mr. Groves protested the letter's; gonuiness. Mr. 'Will Thorne (Labour) wished the King were present and said: “I am sure His Majesty would have the will if he had the power.” Later Mr. Jack Jones .called Sir Kingsley Wood a damned liar and was ordered to leave the House. He walked out saying: “I will go, but ho remains a liar.” The debate wound .up in frequent uproar. \
