MOTOR CYCLIST AND CAR COLLIDE

FARMER SUCCUMBS TO HIS INJURIES. A fatal motor collision occurred near Ashhurst yesterday the victim being Thomas Hooper Smith, a married man, with three children > and a resident of Bulls. Deceased left Hastings early yesterday morning on his motor cycle and was passing through the Ashhurst district when he collided with a car which came suddenly out of a side road. He was unconscious when picked up. Hr Cheyne, was was passing, conveyed him immediately to Hospital where an operation was performed. Deceased, however, failed to rally and passed away In the afternoon. Smith, who was about 30 years of age, saw service with the Australian forces in the war.
