A CHILD RUN OVER BY A TRAIN.
Dunedin, Oct 22. A serious accident occurred at Jttaveusbourne to-day, to a little girl eleven years of age, named Melita She was engaged plucking flowera on the railway Dank, and fell on the line jitat as the midday train from Palmers ton was passing.. Nothing could be done to save her and one of the carriages passed crer he- lo*t leg completely crushing it. : h>h'is ' %v.iß taken m the train tothe Dunedm Hoipital, where the limb wa» amputated below the thigh, The train coming roand the corner startled her so much that she fell. No blame whatever is attached to the engine driver.
