Ooriipanr, and realised the stitisfactovy pvice of 2s 4£d ab Port Chnhnera, the freifjhfc being 40s. The Company's ni.-mngor at Homy -writer to ,the Compunjliere with reference to these oats as follows.:—*" The Edenrlnle shipments have been sold ii\. 29s to 28s per quarter of 8361b, and at the«e price3, with freight at 40s, they harp netted over 23 4d per hnahel in New Zealnnd. At 28s per qunrter they jusfc net 2a 4 I The oats are veiy much adinireri, notwithstanding their being somewhat thick in the skin. If you can send me bright, oats, such as are grow 11 in Canterbury, anrl free from wild seed, to he landed hero in November, December, and January, I think •there is every chance of getting 28s for them, especially if fit for seed. With freight at 70.-! per ton, and primage 5 per cent, such shipments sold at 28s will net, Is 9d per bushel of 401'->, in a New Zealand port j with freight at 60s, they will net Is ll£d, ami with freight ;it 50s, 2s l.|cl per bushel.' This is indeed good news for our farmers in the present position of the oat market."
