It is- rumored that the Governor has addressed a long memorial to the Imperial Government re the financial tion of tue Colony, pointing out the enormous extent of New Zealand indebtedness and the overgrown character of the civil service, which he imagines can be largely reduceed. He anticipates wide-spread commercial' depression m the colony *vheu porrowing powers are checked or exhausted".
