TO-NIGHT'S MEETING.
Mr. MfDopald lias called a meeting of the public to liieaivLis side of the story, and hehas called upon the editor of this journalto prove his charge against him. As MrM'Donaldhad ample opportunity at two public meetings to rebut the statements, some people are of opinion that the gatheHng tOrniglit is nothing but an electioneering dodge, and advised'us to refuse consent until after the contest was ' over. "VYe are of opinion, however, that by such a step we would give the handle for an accusation of cowardice, and would not entertain the proposition for a moment. We therefore meet Mr. M'Dpnald to m ight, but it must be distinctly understood that object stated m his challenge must be; strictly adhered, to — Mr. M'Donald.to disprove qv Mr. Dungan to prove the allegations made. We do not know who is to J?e chairman, nor do we care, we only ask that he will prevent m the" smallest decree either 'parties travelling beyond the .question at issue.
