TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— lf it is the intention of our worthy Town Council to expend a sum in beautifying and improving the reserve known as the Square, perhaps before doing so they might try and see if it is possible to persuade the Railway authorities to remove that most central and anyth ng but ornamental Railway Station from its present commanding site to one more suitable— say alongside of t Post and Telegraph Offices, where it s ould have been put at the first, and would have been, only for some petty local jealousy among our storekeepers. Taking a glance into futurity, it appears very plain that the Railway Station in Palmerston will require to be of larger dimensions when the line to Wellington is made, and, in all probability, this place becomes the junction of the Napier line. Such being the case, the removal of the present station would not cost a great sum ; the shunting conveniences could still remain as they are, and would in no way interfere with the appearance of the Square. I hope the Council will pardon my boldness in naming this matter through the press,— l am, &c., T. B. C.
