1. Race (100 .yards)-- -Open to all comers. First prize, £1 10s ; second, 10s. There were three entries : J. Perrin, R. Hart, Hane. The race was won by R. Hart, Hane second. 2. Boys' Race (100 yards)— For boys of 14 years and under. First prize, IOs ; second, ss. There were twelve started, and after a closely contested race between W. Cook and W. Robinson, the former won the first prize and the latter second. 3. Hop-Step-and-Jump— Prize, 10s. There were three entries : W. Collins, Kuru, Marako. The prize was won by Marako, the distance being 35 feet 1 m. 4. Running High Jump— Prize, 10s. The following were those who entered for this event : — Messrs. W. Collins, E. Cummerfield, J. Dunnin, It. Hart, Hane, J. Birchley, and Collins (half-caste). The prize was won by R. Hart, who jumped 4 feet 8 m. 5. Race (500 yards) — First prize, £2 10s ; second, 15s. For this race there were five entries : Messrs. R. Hart, N. ML Pearson, J. jiyßirchley, W. Collins, J. Dunnin. The first prize was won with ease by R. Hart. J. Birchley carrying off the second prize. 6. Standing- Hioh Jump— Prize, 10s. For this there were four competitors : J. Birchley, R. Hart, Jackson, Hane. Jackson having fallen ojjat, the result rested with the dther fthree. who, at -"feet, were unable to get any higher, and agreed to toss for the prize, when it fell to Hane. 7L T__tEEiL_oGED Race— First prize; 10s ; second, ss. There were four couples entered: Messrs. G. Gray and H. Burr, R. Hart and Home, J. Birchley and Hane, W. Collins and E. Cummerfield. This race caused a great amount of merriment, and set all the small boys on the ground tying themselves two and two to see how they coiild get on. Gray ahd Burr took the first prize, and Collins and Cummerfield the second. 8. Wheelbarrow Race— Prize, 10s. There Were five entries : Messrs. Burr, Tatana, Dunnin, Collins, Marako, and F. Taylor. The race was won byMarako, he being the Only one who could find his way to the winning post. 9. Sack Race— Prize, 10s. Three entered :T. Wright, W. Sheera, Hane. Hane won with ease. 10. Maori Women's Race — First prize, 10s; second, ss. .'• Three entered. Rakuta took first prize and Ngura second. 11. Handicap (500 yards' Race)— First prize, £2; second, 10s. There were four entries : R. Hart (scratch), T. Bircliley (50 yards), Hane (50 yards), Hanui (70 yards). Hane ' came m first, and, therefore, . claimed the prize ; Hart was a good second. ■ y These two last races were extra ones, not having been down on the programme, and concluded the sports , and all left the ground, seeminglywell pleased with their day's amusement.
