PARLIAMENTARY.

! i Weiihj gtost, Friday. House sat till foiiji* o'clock this morning and met again atlnßon. In Committee of Supply last night the whole of the Supplementary Estimates, Public Works andilmmi- . gration estimates, passed. A greatKniany items were objected to, and there- were many divisions, but the only items struck out were £500 for late Colonial Architect, £250 for new Assembly Library, £500 compensation to 3?arnall. * Free immigration is to be reduced as nominated increases. i For some weeks past a very animated correspondence has beeu carried on between the Governor and Sir; George Grey on the question of a dissolution, which, the latter has been urging Governor to grant at close of present session. The Governor declined, whereupon Grey took up the position that the Q-overnor is bound to take the advice of his constitutional advisers on this as on all other questions ; and that the Premier of a colony could demand dissolution whenever he chose. The Governor, on the other hand, maintains that the power of dissolution is the special prerogative of the Crown, and informs G-rey that he, as Crown representative, will exercise such prerogative. Correspondence is to be laid before . both Houses. ; .; The House met at noon to-day, and' adjourned for a short period several times to enable conferences m Council oh various Bills to sit. Business has been purely formal. Additional' items of Supplementary estimates are to be considered at 7.30, and at 8.30 the Appropriation Bill is to come down. The House will probably be prorogued on Monday by Commission. Many members leave to-night. Hinemoa takes others North to-morrow. . . ' -
