The Minutes of the annual meeting were also read and confirmed. PRECIS OP LETTERS. From Thomas Bevan, junr., Asking, for pay as ferryman at TJTaikawa to be remitted ; , amount, , £9. From W. W.. Johnston, M.H.E., stating the Foxton Habor Board Endowment and Borrowing Bill had been read a first time.
From Colonial Secretary's office, replying to Besolution" passed at last sitting of the Counc^protesting against the reserve for Wanganui Harbor Board being taking from this County, and'statdng Government hare no power to set- aside an Act of Parliament. From John Barton, C.E., offering to take charge of the County roads at 5 per cent, on the expenditure ; but it would be necessary to have a working overseer. re also Foxton and Sandon line— unable to attend to it till end of this month. ' , — . . From the Hon. John Johnston^ re Ferry Beserve^ at Foxton being up by cattle, causing: sand to drift intohis paddock ; requesting 1 Council to take steps to prevent any more damage. ;.- From W. W. Johnston, M.H3S., Inquiring if clause No 12 of the Babbit Nuisance Act would- not meet/equiremehts of the Council re resolution proposed by Councillor Grower re Counties Act amendement. The CsAiskiN said he would draw I the attention of the Council to the new clause m the Babbit Nuisance Act which reads as follows :^-" If any person shall knowingly and wilfully liberate many part of the Colony any five rabbit or rabbits^ every person so off ending shall upon conviction before any two Justices, and _at their discretion^ be liable to be committed to gaol with or without hard labor for any term not 'exceeding six months, or to forfeit : and jmyl a penalty not exceeding f^y^jfl^fcds. •All proceedings under3his^i<J|Hsion shall be held and determinea^^luinmary way." .■_ , . r , ." .".;'.•'.■■ Or.
