The Inspector of Nuisances . report showed that an improvement had taken place m respect to many nuisances complained of some time ago. , The Public Works Committee's report was. read and adopted. Accounts amounting to £96 11s 5d were passed for payment. It was resolved that the Public Works and Finance Committees should number 3 members, instead of 5 as hitherto. Crs. Jenssen, Owen, and Roe were appointed a Public Works Committee. Crs. Linton, Walton, and Manson were appointed a Finance Committee. Crs. Linton, Owen, and Roe were appointed a Public Reserves Committee. Cr. Linton tabled the following motion : : — " That m future* the Council do meet on the first Friday of each month, instead of the last Friday.as at present." - Mr R. JS". Keeling was appointed valuator for the Borough for present year, and was instructed to proceed with the new valuation as soon as possible; the price of such work to be £20. ' Complaints were laid before the meet-

ing respecting the large and increasing number of stray cattle running within the Borough boundaries. It was suggested that the matter should be brought under the notice of the Constable, who . had the necessary authority to impound all such animals. ■'- „ The Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, the 10th inst., ;for the purpose of considering the bye-laws as printed. ________•____
