[Feom oue ownhOobebspondbnt,] A meeting was held a- f e^ iiights ago at Why te' s' Hotel, for the" purpose of arranging for the yearly j regatta and sports, to be held here. The following gentlemen we're elected office bearers for, the ensuing year :f--A. J. Whyte, judge and treasurer ;Btarter; j*. W. Euck, hon. sec; ] It was { agreed
that the regatta and sports should be held on Mday, the 4th January, 1878. The follpmng gentlemen were chosen a committee Young, Osborn, F. Bobinson, jupr;i Gibson, Moinet, and Gray. The probable programme will be a handicap sailing race, a 2-oared race, handicap 4-oared race, canoe race, and sculler- s race ; and for the sports— loo yards race open to all comers, 100 yards race for boys, v hop-step-and-jump, running high jump, 500 yards race, and. standing jump. It is the intention of the Committee to publish fully the particulars of both regatta and sports. Eegarding the day fixed, it was thought best to name that day so as not to clash with any sports that are to be: held at the other townships of the County.
