Whooping Cough.:—- F. B. writes to us as' follows :— The enclosed receipt for whoopingcough has been used with such, constant success by my friends m Victoria, that I send it, hoping you may be willing to find space, for its publication. I have no doubt that if the directions are. carefully, followed, much relief may be gained from it at this time :— Powder carefully, and sift through;muslin, half an -ounce of alum, administer thrro times a d^y v .dissolTcdin : a spoonful ofv water, or, sugar and water, m doses according ; to age, as '-follows :-^To "an infant a; few' days old, 'give £ grain by weight, at each dose, and increase it oh tneieeoh'd,day tp grain ;7 continue this fora fortnight when the cough should be gone ; if fchja is not^tlie case, co^jtinuethe medicine., l-j£o a child ■» year old, give on the first day V grain each dose ; increase it on the following duy to one grain. l"o a child fouir years old give two grains, and increase daily by \ grain toy 4or 5 grains per dose. Q?hia : quantity should^ not be exceeded for this age j but ] for older children, the dose may be regulated i m proportion to age. An adult may take 10 grains, and may ioreasebyi grain each j day until it amounts to 20 or 28 grains, j To be taken on an-euipty stomach.
