' • Sib,-— Tqu may remember some time since a person calling himself;'* Observer" wi-ote you on the above subject, blaming one or two of our storekeepers for breaking an agreement entered into to close at seven o'clock every evening m th>. week except Saturday. the wayi Sir, ?he must be taking nap " ' lately, as if he was only half-awake <he would .see : the aforesaid agreement broken nearly every >night m week*. Taking a walk last night I saw at two" of the, .stbrea customers (ntitiyes) getting admittance as freely as if ifcwas.only five or six (whereas it was then eight) o'clock; GriVe the slightest, tap at the door, and. you will hear some person make a "spring " from i-i bepind < the counter, or from some ponvenientplace where they are posted tp admit itstray shots." This applies to one of the places referred to particularly. .Now, Sir, I think tnis is not fair, especially' to those .who try; to keep to their word. And, I hear, the other -stores are thinking of resuming the old system (if those parties persist m this way much longer) of closing when they like.— l iamV &c.i . ."; . ■ Obsbbtbb Noi 2.
