The' f London Medical Record " has sortto ' interesting Remarks upon the consumption of watercress m Paris. And, by-the-way, it •will be remembered that, some time since, this homely and wholesome vegetable, which here grows at such an extraordinary rate as to become" an absolute nuisance, was stated to possess medicinal qualities which made it an antidote for the inordinate use of tobacco. In Paris, the w&fercress is extensively used .as an adjunct to many dishes, and not, as elsewhere, chiefly m its uncooked state, as an accompaniment to the matutinal ham and eggs. Recent statistics (for ir France everything is a matter of statistics) tell us that no less than 30 waggon-loads of water- 1 cresses.each worth £12 sterling, daily pass the barriers of Paris, malting the daily expenditure of the capital for 6nis eVeulenfc ,£360 sterling.
