MANCHESTER HIGHWAY BOARD.
A special meeting was called by the Chairman of the above Board in consequence of the rejection by the Assessment Court of the valuation list for the Manchester Highway District. The meeting was held at the E. and C. Aid Corporation Office, Feilding, on Saturday, 24tli March, at 1 o'clock p.m. MEMBERS PBESENT: Messrs. A. F. Halcombe (chairman), Bailey, Macarthur, and Maysmor. The Chairman explained that the meeting was called in consequence of the valuation list, prepared by Mr Linton, having been rejected by the Assessment Court. It was resolved — " That Mr Macai'thur be requested to arrange with Mr Linton to correct the valuation list made by him, so as to meet the requirements of the Assessment Court, and that the Chairman be authorised thereafter to recommend Mr Linton to the Judge of the Assessment Court for appointment as valuer." Mr E. Ranger having refused to take up his contract for the erection of the Manchester-street bridge, it was resolved " That the tender of Mr H. H. Bilderbeck, for £78 10s, be accepted ; and failing his taking up the contract, that fresh tenders be called for, to be sent in by the 7th April, 1877." Resolved — " That in accordance with a resolution of the last meeting of the Board, a public meeting be called at the immigration Depot, Feilding, for Thursday, the 29th March, at 7 p.m. to consider the question of the separation of the Manchester and Kiwitea Ridings from the Manawatu County, and their erection into a separate county."
