MANCHESTER HIGHWAY BOARD.
A meeting of the Boai"d was held on Saturday, 10th March, at the E. and C. A. Corporation Office, Feilditig. MEMBEBS PRESENT. Messrs. Maearthur (Vice-Chairman), Maysinor, Linton, and dimming. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. TENDEBS. The following tenders were received for forming 64f chains of road and building bridgesand culverts on the old Napier road :— Ball and Cameron, £86 3s l^d, accepted. Declined — Collin McEertae, £316 15s lOd ; P. S. Haggerty, £119 2s"9d ; Charles Huropheys, £113 12s 8d ; Kelly and Wilson, £84 yd. Metalling 34 chains, Eangitawa road — Bowler and Pudney, at per chain, £3, accepted; Bell and Gower, £3 4s. declined. Metalling 43 chains, Eangitawa road — Bell and Gower, at per chain, £3 12s 6d, accepted. Metalling 22 chains, Bangitawa road — Bell and Gower, at per chain, £3 10s, accepted. Forming 15f chains, Willoughby street, Halcombe, aud putting m culverts — Bollover and Pullney, at per chain, £3 17s 6d, accepted ; Bell and Gower, £3 17s 6d; declined. BESOLVED. That" any three members of the Board be authorised to open and accept tenders. ' That m consequence of the action of the Manawatu County Council, m refusing an additional representative m the Council to the Manchester Biding, and alsb looking at the diversity of interests of the country South and North of the railway line, this Board is of opinion that it is to the interests of the ratefi^ers m the Manchester and Kiwitea ridings to take action for the purpose of procuring a separation from the Manawatu County ; and that a public meeting of ratepayers be called by the Board, at an early date, for the purpose of discussing the question. That the next meeting of the Board be held on Saturday, the 7th April, 1877.
