March 9. The Taranaki agricultural statistics for 1877 have been published. They show — Holdings, 745 ; wheat, 1016s acres ; oats (grain), 711 acres ; barley, 48 acres ; grass, 82,340 acres ; potatoes, 596 acres ; other crops, 268 acres. Total, 85,159 acres. Total increase of acres under crop. 24,584.
The reported native, meeting at Waitara will not it is said, take place. Tuesday. . Richard Chihnan, late collector of customs, died last night.
