Thursday, Bth March, 1877. manawatu highways board valuation LIST. The Judge, after examining the Sectary as to the action of the Board m .^appsanting valuers, and after hearing fronj the valuers as to their mode of making up the valuation list, decided that such list was not m accordance with the Rating Act, inasmuch as where a district is divided into wards or other divisions a separate list should be preJ'ared for each such division. The udge, therefore, declared the list to be invalid. PALMERSTON NORTH LOCAL BOARD VALUATION LIST. In consequence of the numbers of the entries requiring adjustment, the passing of this list was postponed till next Court day. The following objections were, however, disposed of : — J. M. Cleland— That he was not the owner of a section which was entered to him m the list, and that the remainder were too highly valued. The Judge decided that the objection was too vague, as no information was forthcoming as to whom the section m question was transferred, and the appeal against the value was not considered tenable. G. Gibbe — That the section for which he was rated was not his property. As there was no information showing to whom the section had been transferred, and G. Gibbe having paid the past years' rate upon it, the objection was not upheld. J. R. George — That he was not the owner of the section entered to his name. It appearing that Mr George had made the same objection previously, the Judge entered the section to " owner." . John Francis — That a section entered tohiin was not now occupied by him. The Judge corrected the entry by substituting the naihe of D. Peck, he being the owner.
