Wednesday. Heavy rain set m this morning, and .the shooting is all stopped. Every prepai'ation was made at the camp for wet weather. If fine to-morrow his Excellency the Governor will visit the range, when the sth and 6th rifle matches and the carbine moving target match will be taken. Thursday. The Governor arid suite arrived at the camp shortly after one o'clock, and were received by the staff and representatives drawn up m a line. The flanks were wheeled inwards when His Excellency addressed the competitors. After luncheon the carbine men fell m and marched to the range; and'by tbe time His Excellency arrived all was m ♦ readiness for the moving target match. i I Firing then commenced, the result being,: —Blake (Armed Constabulary), 47; Muir (Dunedin), 39; Rose (Auckland), 38; Laing (Oamaru), 37. The shooting m the case of some competitors j was very rapid, as many as 19 and 20 \ shots having been fired m the two minutes. The riflemen then fell m to compete for the fourth match. The < prize winners are: —Richardson, 71; Acheson, 71; Paynter, 70 ; Smith, 69; Haslett, 69 ; Anderson, 68; Ballanger, 68 ; and Murray, 68. There are a large i number of visitors on the ground. The ; weather is very fine and the ground is \ drying rapidly. There was neither \ firing nor cricketing m the morning. f
