“THE MESSIAH.”
A committee meeting in connection with the Centennial presentation of “The Messiah” was held on Tuesday at St. Paul’s. Church; Broad Street. Mr J. Holmes Ruunicles presided over a good attendance. An apology for absence was received from Mr 11. Radford and the choirmaster of Emmanuel Congregational Church. Mr A. Charles, hon. secretary, reported that he had interviewed Mr C. L. Mowlem with regard to the orchestra, and every assistance had been, promised. Copies of “The Messiah” were available from the Wanganui Choral Society. The minister of Emmanuel Congregational Church had promised the use of the schoolroom for rehearsals. It was decided to commence ‘ rehearsals there next week, all choirmasters or their deputies to act as choir stewards. The chorus is to be open to unattached choristers. The price of tickets was fixed and all subscribers are to receive four tickets for their subscription. Mrs R. S. Law has accepted the office of leader of the orchestra. The fixing of the date of the production was 'held over, as also was the appointment of soloists.
