AMBULANCE BRIGADE.

The annual ) inspection of t'he St. John Ambulance Brigade in Palmerston North was held on Tuesday in the Railway Hall, the ceremony being carried out by Mr C. Meachen, District Officer, Wellington. There were about 130 members on parade. Mr Meachen congratulated the brigade on its appearance and general smartness, and also on the number of new members enrolled since his last visit.

The units on parade, with the officers in charge, were : City Ambulance Division (Superintendent B. It. Brown); Railway ’ Ambulance Division (Superintendent H. C. Wilson); City Cadet Division (Cadet Superintendent A. Stevenson); Railway Cadet Division (Cadet Superintendent B. Benefield); Nursing Division (Mrs A. A. Williams, lady superintendent); Cadet Nursing Division (Miss C. Lamerton. lady cadet superintendent). The units went through various phases of first-aid work.

After the inspection Mr Meachen screened films dealing with artificial respiration, control of bleeding, borne nursing and digestion. , He appealed urgently lor women donors for blood transfusion in Palmerston North.
