FOXTON
During September, rain fell in Foxton on 13 days, a total of 1.595 in. being recorded. The maximum daily fall was .43 in on September 10. The hottest day was the 27th, with a temperature of 58 degrees, and the coldest day was the 12th with 44 degrees, when a frost was experienced. ’ The quarterly meeting of the Foxton ; Fire Board was presided over by Mr A. JT. Clerke. Captain J. R. Middleton’s l'C- ■ signation was accepted with regret and it , was decided to notify the Borough Council of the resignation. 1 Having won • the double honours this season, both juniors and seniors being champions, th j Foxton Rugby Club held a victory ball in the Town Hall this I week. The trophies won, together with tho 1 trophies to bo presented to individual I players occupied pride of place on the ) stage. The trophies were presented by the ) president (Mr A. J. Devonshire). In tho absence of the captain (Mr D. Chrystall), > Messrs A. Vertongen and T. Terry ac ’ cepted the following trophies on behalf of the senior team: McLennan Challenge Cup, Easton Challenge Cup, championship cup, Nash Cup, and the cup for tho Maori-Pakeha match. j wore: Championship cup, a banner presented by Mrs 1-1. Hall, Levin, and Canoe. The Grant Cup. for the best allround club member was won by A, Vcr- . tongen. Medals were presented as follows: ’ Best senior forward. E. C. Devonshire; ’ best senior back, A. Baird; best junior forward, S. Gilmour; best junior back, P 1 Barrat; best third grade back, A. Haka- - raia; best third grade forward, E. Walls button. Donations of £5 5s from Mr F. i S. Easton and £1 Is from Ms P- J. Barry : were used for the purchase of the medals.
