WOMEN’S INSTITUTES.

OROUA FEDERATION

A meeting of tho executive of the Oroua Federation of Women’s Institute was held at thh Community Centre, Feilding, oil Friday. Those present were Mesdames "A • G. Short (president), A. O. McCorkindale, R. 11. Guthrie, G. B. Gregory", J. Sporlc, W. E. Baker, C. Smith, IJ.1 J . Simpson, A. K Drew (hon. treasurer) and C. M. Stanley (hon. secretary). Apologies for absence wore received from Mrs J. H. Mason. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mr and Mrs J. H. Mason in their recent bereavement, all standing in silence. It was decided to forward a donation to the Dominion federation. Mrs Mason will replace Mrs Drew as Women’s Institute representative, with Mrs Short, on tho Patriotic Committee. The programme for the half-yearly council meeting was arranged, and tho agenda drawn up. The half-yearly report was presented anil finally approved. Hie half-yearly bal-ance-sheet was also approved. It was decided that the Oroua federation be responsible for the curing of the lambskins and making the gloves for tho minesweeper crows. All the skins are provided by institutes in the federation. Affiliation fees were received from Pohangina (£1 11s); potato money, Sanson (10s); Pohangina (7s); donations to Oroua federation. Sanson (10s), Stanway (£1 12s 9d), Pohangina (17s 3d); Dominion Federation Sanson (10s), Pohangina (10s), Stanway (10s), war effort. Table Flat (15s). A soldiers’ parcel sent by tho Sanson Women’s Institute has been acknowledged, with the information that the cake contained in it opened up in perfect condition. The Marton Junction Women’s Institute has received letters from a soldier and a nurse who received parcels, and a Glen Oroua Women’s Institute parcel was received by a Sanson boy.—Apiti correspondent.
