OTAKI MAORI COLLEGE.
APPRECIATION EXPRESSED
A letter of appreciation for valuable work done in connection with the Maori College at Otaki has been received by Air Alfred Cook, from Hon. Rangi Mawhete, M.L.C. Mr Cook has been instrumental in keeping the matter before the public, and the letter refers to the great interest taken, adding that Te Rauparaha handed over the land in good faith to build a college and church for his descendants at Porirua and Otaki. It was hoped that a strong deputation would attend before the Select Committee at "Wellington on Thursday, arid among the number Messrs Cook, Hone McMillan, Tatana, Wi Neera, and other Natives. It was understood, stated Hon. Air Moffatt, that both sides would he represented by counsel. Air Cook was also commended on the interest he has taken in Alaori rehabilitation work, and it was suggested that Judge Shepherd be asked to give an address on the matter. This is in the able hands of Air Cook who will do his utmost to bring the. matter to a successful issue. ... ,
