HARD LABOUR.

SENTENCE FOR CONVERSION

WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. Three months’ hard labour was imposed by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., on a soldier, "Robert Harold Russell, aged 19, for the unlawful conversion of a car. The police stated that accused missed the last train to Trentham on Saturday night and took the car from an hotel. The owner of the car claimed that three gallons of petrol had been used and the car had travelled at least 120 miles. The car was damaged to the extent of approximately £25.

Mr Stout said accused, who was before the Court in Christchurch a week ago for a similar offence, had had a warning.
