BUSINESS OF PARLIAMENT.
RESUMPTION TO-MORROW. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON,’Sept. 30. The adjourned session of Parliament will he resumed to-morrow. It is intended that the House of Representatives, after formal business and the passing of a resolution of condolence in connection with the death of Mr A. E. Jull, member for Waipawa, will adjourn until Wednesday as a mark of respect to his memory. There is no certainty that members will desire a secret session on this occasion, as the Opposition is represented in the War Cabinet, while the Government holds frequent caucus meetings to discuss all phases of the war effort.
Apart from an Excess Profits Bill, which will probably .make its appearance on Wednesday, , the legislative programme is unimportant. The Prime Minister (lit. Hon. P. Fraser) is ol the opinion that the House will adjourn by the end of next week. As a promise was given by the Prime Minister when the House was last in session that an opportunity would be given to discuss the compulsory loan, it is possible that this 'land other phases of war finance canhbe discussed when the Excess Profits Bill is before the House. It is the present intention that the House, when business is completed, should meet again in November. There is .a possibility that the subsequent adjournment will he taken until after the holiday season, unless an emergency arises.
