Resentment has been expressed by civil servants regarding the practice of the Public Service Commissioner (Mr T. Mark) in approving the appointments of temporary officers at a higher salary than that received bv permanent officers. At the last meeting of the executive committee of the PvTblic Service -Association a resolution was received from the Palmerston North section protesting against the commissioner’s action in advertising for temporary clerks for the State Advances Corporation at higher salaries than are paid to officers in other departments whb have all the qualifications necessary for the positions, and urged the executive to make.a protest .to"the commissioner.
