SHEPHERD’S DEATH.

Per Press Association. TAIHAPE, Sept. 25. The body of Ronald Charles Gardiner, aged 24, a shepherd employed on the Burridge Estate, Moawhango, near Taihape, was found lying in a water table near the men’s quarters with a shotgun lying at the feet. At an inquest held before the District Coroner (Mr E. Loader), Frederick Leighton, manager of the Burridge Estate, said that Gardiner was inclined to be nervy at periods, but possessed a bright and cheerful disposition. Letters written to his father and fiancee showed that he was extremely worried about his health. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
