CHRISTAIAS PARCELS,

The task of ‘ packing parcels for soldiers overseas was completed yesterday by the ladies’ committee in Feilding. No fewer than 416 parcels have been despatched. Spinning From the Fleece.

As part of the patriotic scheme, Miss Barrett, of ICiwitea, has begun teaching women how to spin from the fleece. The wool used was donated by Mu H. J. Dewe. New Cricket Club.

A meeting was held last evening for tho purpose of forming a new cricket club in Feilding. There was a good attendance and it was decided that the club be formed. Air S. Smith 'was elected president and Mr R. Shrimpton secretary. Home Guard Committee.

At a meeting of trade unionists in Feilding at the week-end, Air H Bell (secretary of the Freezing Workers’ Union in Feilding) was elected as the trades representative on the Home Guard Committee. Assessment Court.

When the Assessment Court sits in Feilding this week it will deal with objections to the revaluations of certain borough properties. The borough’s representative on the Court will lie Air G. J. Fitzpatrick, who succeeds in that position the late Air Edmund Goodbehere.

Fruit Trees Blossoming. According to reports received from fruitgrowers in the Feilding district it appears that the prospecFs of good crops of pears, apricots and plums this season are bright. The quarterly report of the superintendent of the Feilding Fire Brigade (Mr O. C. Sporle) states that there has been no fire loss and that the brigade received only two calls during the quarter, both being dealt with without cost or loss. Regarding the plant.
