Death has removed one of Foxton’g oldest and most-esteemed residents. Airs Alary Elizabeth Robinson. Some time later the late Mr and Mrs Robinson removed to No. 2 Line, but in 1912 went to live at the present homestead at Herrington, which was built at that time by the late Air Robmeson. Throughout the half century she spent here she took an active interest in All Saints’ Church. Of a quiet and retiring nature, hut the possessor of a generous and kindly disposition, she endeared herself to a large circle of friends, who will regret her passing. She had been suffering from failing health for some time. Airs Robinson leaves a grown-un family of two sons and two daughters. The sons are Afessrs Rov and Darev Robinso.. One brother survives her, Mr L. Armstrong, of .Queensland. At a meeting of the Foxton Petrol Resellers’ and Garage Proprietors’ Association, Mr E. R. Booth presided. The secretary’pointed out that the gross profit made to-dav on a gallon of petrol was ■ only 9 per cent. It was decided to appeal to the New Zealand Petrol Resellers’ Confeience requesting them to make an endeavour to increase the margin of profit so that tho petrol resellers may, to some extent bo reimbursed for the loss of business owing to the severe restrictions on the sale of petrol. It was also decided that, as the present, severe restrictions were not in the interests of the country ns n whole and were placing the industry in a chaotic position, any increase in the petrol allow-ee-e should be made available immediately.
