Use of Pack-Horses. Farmers in the Ractihi district have organised a company, for the purpose of carrying out topdressing o[ hilly land, using pack-horses, .in the drive lor more production. Certification Scheme. “There can bo no doubt that the guarantee of quality provided under the seed certification scheme administered by the Fields Division of the Department of Agriculture is of immeasurable value to the farming community,” said Mr N. The total estimated woc-1 production for the year ended June 30, 1940, is 310,000,0001 b., according to the Government Statistician. Stocks of wool held in Now Zealand, at June 30, 1940. represent approximately 43,300,0001 b. in the grease, as' compared with 36,600,0001 b. at ' June 30, 1939.

Every dairy factory in the VVairarapa shows an increase on last, year’s production, except in possibly one or two cases, where there have been diversions of supplies to cheese factories from blitter factories. Cheese factories all show increases on last year’s figures, some ranging os high as 30 per cent. This, it is expected, will be even further increased by the' time the season readies its peak in November.
