EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” SEPTEMBER 24, 1910. Lord Ilawlcc had retired from first-class cricket. His name had been associated with Yorkshire cricket .for nearly 30 years, and lio had caotainod his county sinco 1333. Lieutenant Filchner, leader of the German Antarctic Expedition, stated that Captain *Seott had arranged that the Germans should start from Weddell Sea in tho spring of 1911. If they met in the Antarctic some of Filchner’s party would accompany Scott to Weddell Sea, and some of Scott’s party would accompany Filchner’s to Ross Sea. At the third annual meeting of the ICairanga Dairy Company it was announced that the total, amount paid to milk suppliers was £16,583, being equal to 10.6742 d per lb of butterfat, plus a bonus of id.
