DECEPTION FAILS.

CHRISTCHURCH, Sept, 23.

Passing himself off as a member of •the Air Force, Clarence Reginald Burt, aged 32, gained admittance to the Wigram air station, but when taken to the guard room his deception was discovered. Burt was charged to-day with being unlawfully on tne station, and it was then revealed that he had passed, liimself off as a commissioned Air Force officer to gain admittance to the Union Jack Club. Once before Burt had been found at AVigram in suspicious circumstances and he had been warned off. It was stated in evidence that last Tuesday Burt knocked on a pilot’s bedroom door and said lie had been instructed. to report for training. AVlien accommodation was’ arranged the deception was discovered. Burt liad no connection with AVigram. but was taking the educational course sponsored by the Air Department. “They are not taking men with this record?” asked the Alagistrate (Air Levvey) after reading Burt’s list. Alter warning Burt that lie would be sent to gaol if there was any’ further trouble, the Alagistrate convicted him and ordered, him to come up for sentence within two years if called upon.
