MUSICAL DEVELOPMENT.

VIOLINIST’S VIEWS,

Per Press Association

. AUCKLAND, Sept. 23. However great one’s musical ability may be, it is essential that one should live in a country where classical music is produced to absorb the atmosphere that may convert one’s talent into genius. That is the opinion of Y r ehudi /tlenu'iiin, the world-famed violinist, who is a passenger from Sydney to the United States. He said America was fortunate because so many great artists of the world wore seeking sanctuary there. Their influence should make a mark on the musical development of America. The . peojjle of New Zealand and Australia did not lag behind America in most things, but as far as music was concerned they were a.t a disadvantage unless they could spend some time in the countries where music was produced.
