VICTORY AHEAD.
AMERICAN GENERAL’S VIEW.
STRONG BRITISH MORALE
NEW YORK, Sept. 20
The United States Army Commission has returned alter a month in London and reports that the intensive bomb ings have not done any serious military damage and have not affected morale. .
Brigadier-General G. B. Strong asserted that, from personal o enervation and checks, he found that the British reports of the air warfare were substantially- correct. When they erred it was conservatively. Asked Whether the British claim to shooting down 185 German planes in a single day last week was true, he replied that the actual count was 192 planes. The R.A.F. now had better material and trained personnel than ever. • Brigadier: General Strong told the Press, after reporting to the Secretary for AVar (Mr 11. L. Stimson) that Britain would he able to defeat Germany after a long war.
“The people are united behind Mr Churchill, and .are cheerful and grimly determined to end German military domination of Europe. I believe they can do it,” he said.
He praised the superiority of British pilots. The Germans were machinemade and lacked enthusiasm while the Britishers were highly trained, regarding combat as a sporting proposition.
