WEDDING.

WAITE—LAING

St. David’s 1 Presbyterian Church, "terrace End, was the sceno of a very unique wedding on August G, when Alary Crystal, youngest daughter of Mr and Airs G. Laing, of Alfred Street, Palmerston North, was joined in the bonds of holy matrimony to Sapper William Edward, of the Railway Operating Company, youngest son of Air and Mrs C. Waite, of Alontreal Street. Alilson. The ceremony was per formed by Rev. It. Warnock, and Airs Alurray presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked very charming in her gown of magnolia satin. The dress was cut on slim-fitting lines, wit'h Peter Pan collar and tiny satin buttons from the neck to the hem of the skirt. Her long train fell from the waist. The sleeves were long and pointed over the hand ; buttons also finished these from the elbow to the wrist. The only jewellery worn by the bride was a mother-of-pearl brooch, which had been worn by 'her mother on the latter’s wedding day. Her beautiful veil, with embroidered corners and scalloped edge, was held in place with a spray of camellias and fell to form a second train. The bride’s bouquet was made of freesias, winter roses, carnations, and maidenhair fern.

The only bridesmaid was Aliss Joyce AlcAlurchie, a friend of the bride, who was dressed in a frock of mauve shot taffeta made on shepherdess lines. A bolero of stiffened net with short puff sleeves was worn, and a picture hat. also of stiffened nee, finished with velvet ribbon. Her bouquet was of daffodils and maidenhair fern, with streamers to match.

The bridegroom was very ably assisted by Sapper Charles Ingram, also of the Railway Operating Company. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a mcky horseshoe by Jill Devey, a little friend. Eollowing the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Air and Airs Laing received the guests, Airs Laing wearing a navy ensemble with matching accessories. She also wore a shoulder spray of pink and mauve hyacinths. The bridegroom’s mother and father also assisted in receiving the guests, the former wearing a brown costume with brown accessories, and her shoulder spray was of gold hyacinths. The bride and bridegroom left later, amid a shower of confetti, for a tour of the North Island. The bride appeared for travelling in a green spring costume with tan accessories. The couple were the recipients of a great many presents and cheques.
