Beginning her first regular passenger flight from Auckland to San Francisco Pan-American Airways American Clipper took off from Waitemata Harbour at 7.50 o’clock yesterdav morning, with 14 passengers as well as mail and freight. The Clipper landed at Noumea at 3.37 o’clock in the alternoon. — Press Association. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day, William Wallace Clifford, labourer, aged 30, of Napier, was charged that on September 18, at Palmerston North, he was found without lawful excuse, but in circumstances that did not disclose the commission of any other offence, in an enclosed yard at No. 75 Grey Street, occupied by P. O. Duncalf. Messrs M. A. Eliott and T. 11. Lees, J.P.’s. were on the- Bench and Mr G. J. Kells appeared for accused. Sergeant P. Murphy appeared for the police. Accused was convicted and discharged, an explanation being given that he bad already spent the night in the lock-up.
