Tho members are: Messrs 0. Tremaine, J. A. Grant, W. G. Black, W. B. Tennent, H. G. Mills, and G. A. Melville. There is thus one representative from each oi the six city schools. Mr G. H. Galluher bus been appointed temporary • caretaker. Mr Black raised the 'question ol transport of children attending the school. At the Central and Terrace End Schools there were children who came from rural areas as a result of consolidation, and he thought it reasonable that they should bo transported to the Intermediate School. As regards other children, there was a provision in the Act by which exemption could be claimed it the child had to walk further than a certain distance, ami lie was alraid some parents might take advantage of it. He thought the parents should be responsible for transport—they might perhaps make some arrangement with the City Council bus service. Mr Black moved that the board’s secretary and the chief inspector submit a report on the hoard s position in the matter. The board agreed. The board’s architect (Mr E. IL Hodge) reported: “We. have put in hand the distribution of furniture to the various rooms. There is, of course, much more furniture to be prepared before He school can he regarded as fully furnished and 1 am awaiting a conversation with the principal and his staff as to the equipment of certain special rooms.”
