(From Our Own Correspondent.) ; UTUVVAI,'Sept; 18. There was a fair attendance of members at the September meeting of the Women’s Institute, presided over by Mrs Hirsehbcrg. Mrs Hirschberg and Mrs McEwen were appointed delegates to attend tho Oroua council meeting. Two Christmas parcels are to be made up for the troops, tho articles for these to bo bought. In answer to an appeal to help the lepers, members wero asked to'bring contributions to make up a parcel. Potatoes for

next season’s competition wero kindly supplied and handetl out by Mrs Harkness. Tho roll-call, “S.O.S. cooking hint,” was well responded to. Competitions resulted: Hyacinth, Mrs OTlagan 1, Mrs Batchelar 2, Mrs Foot 3; polyanthus, Mrs McEwen 1,. Mrs O’Hagan 2, Mrs Flavell 3; plum jam, Mrs Batchelar T,. Mrs Foot 2, Mrs McEwen 3; - leek, Mrs Harkness 1, Mrs McKenzie 2, Miss. Harkness 3. The programme for October is: Rollcall, “S.O.S. gardening call”; gardening talk by Mr Just; bring and buy stall; competitions, ') bowl of spring flowers, premier bloom, anemone and ranunculus, premier vegetable, parsnip. The hostesses will bo Mrs C. Searle, Mrs A. Roberts and Miss ‘ Harkness.
