Flying-Officer Brian George Carbury, of Wellington, and Pilot-Officer Michael Janies Herrick, of Hastings, have been awarded the D.F.CThe citations state that FlyingOfficer Carbury led V a section against two planes operating on the NorthEast Coast, destroying both. He was almost continually engaged from August 28 to September 2 against large enemy raids over Kent and destroyed eight planes of which five were brought down in three successive engagements on one day. Pilot-Officer Herrick, during the interception of a patrol on September 4, destroyed two planes, succeeding in closing up to within 30 yards of the second, which fell to pieces under his fire.
