TERRACE END SCHOOL.
The winter term closed witli an average attendance of 523.1 out of an average roll of 562.8, and the roll now was 590, reported the headmaster (Mr A. AV. Thompson) at a meeting of the Terrace End School committee, held last evening. Those present 'were: Messrs W. B. Tennent (chairman), K. G. Chamberlain (secretary), E. P. Wix, H. L. Cunninghame, E. G. Bennett, It. J. Andrew, R. C. Donald and L. Gardner. The headmaster also reported that Miss J. M. Wellwood bad been appointed to the staff of the Intermediate School and would leave at the end of the year. The committee decided to place on record appreciation of Miss Welhvood’s splendid work on tho staff of the Terrace End School, carrying the resolution with enthusiasm. The chairman said that the advent of the Intermediate School would mean the end of specialists at primary schools. The headmaster stated that school medical officers intended treating tlie pupils for the prevention of diphtheria and there had been a splendid response from parents. In regard to the treatment available, the younger children were to be given preference, but it was also available lor the older pupils if the so desired. The nomination of the chairman to act on the Intermediate School Committee was endorsed.
