SWISS PRESS ASSAILED
LONDON, Sept, 1
The French newspaper La France au Travail publishes an article attacking the Swiss Press for adopting an attitude “exactly contrary to that which should be adopted”—the role of spiritual mediator, for which Switzerland’s geographical position predestined it. The writer says that the Swiss Press “sides towards chauvinism, which is dangerous for a neutral State.” He adds that Swiss newspapers printed in French and German are really acting “in Britain’s purely selfish interest Even the most important organs reproach the Chief of the French State, Marshal Potato, for compromising Democracy’s cause. Events have not yet opened Swiss eyes and treason continues.” Another French newspaper, La Gerbe, publishes a lengthy warning against French Jews, and winds up ■. “The Jewish problem must be settled by the man who has taken in hand the destinies of the white race.” The text does not clarify whether the allusion refers to Hitler or Mussolini.
